Building a reliable installation experience

AikoGx Store is moving forward. While the launcher is still in active development, recent work has focused on validating real workflows and building the systems that will support our games in the future.

We have been testing real installation flows with complete game builds, including a build of Chaos Among Realms: Reborn measuring around 8 GB.

The current work covers downloading, pausing, resuming and cancelling installations, choosing installation locations, detecting existing installations, uninstalling games and launching them from the Store.

These tests help us identify the problems that players could encounter before the launcher becomes a broader part of the AikoGx experience.

The Windows installer

The official Windows installer is also becoming an important part of the process.

It supports choosing an installation location, creating shortcuts, updating an existing installation and uninstalling the launcher without removing installed games. We have also been checking that configurations and existing library information remain available after updates.

The goal is simple: installing or updating the AikoGx ecosystem should feel clear, predictable and safe.

AikoGx Game Keys

One of the most important systems currently taking shape is AikoGx Game Keys.

Keys use a structured format such as AGX1-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.

The system is designed to support batches for sales, promotions, giveaways, press access, creators and internal testing.

Only secure representations are stored by the backend, while plaintext keys can be exported when they need to be distributed. Keys can also be revoked when necessary.

In DEV, we have tested the complete flow from the Publishing Tool to a Game Key, redemption, entitlement and the player Library. A redeemed key can add a game to another account, while a revoked key is rejected correctly.

The Publishing Tool

Alongside the launcher, we are developing an internal AikoGx Publishing Tool.

The tool is being built to manage games, builds and keys, while preparing the foundations for future publishing operations. Over time, it could become the central place for managing builds, update channels, access campaigns, prices, publication status and promotional tools.

This system is still under development, but it gives us a clearer foundation for managing our catalogue safely.

Free to Claim

We are also designing a future Free to Claim system.

The idea is that a verified account could claim a game during a limited promotional campaign and keep access permanently. Campaign timing would be controlled by the server rather than the player’s local computer.

This feature is still being designed and is not available yet. The current work is focused on defining the backend, campaign rules, account verification and library integration before building the final launcher experience.

What comes next

The next areas we are preparing include catalogue management, access and promotional campaigns, the Free to Claim backend, Free to Claim inside the launcher, build publishing and update management, and better integration between the Store, the Library and game ownership.

There is still a lot of work ahead, but these systems are helping us move from a simple launcher concept toward a more complete platform for AikoGx games.

AikoGx Store is still growing, but the foundations for a safer and more flexible game experience are now taking shape.
