A better toolkit for the studio

Some of this development work has happened beyond the game itself. We have been building Rewindock, a new desktop tool shaped around the way we work at AikoGx Studios.

Rewindock is designed to make backups easier to manage, help us recover misplaced files, and keep project work better organized. We plan to distribute it for free, but it is not available yet. We will share more information as we get closer to its release; there is no release date to announce at this stage.

Moving Chaos Among Realms to Unreal Engine 5.8

Chaos Among Realms was being developed in Unreal Engine 5.4, and we have now completed the move to Unreal Engine 5.8. Making that transition safely was an important part of preparing the project for its next stages.

Working in the newer engine gives us a foundation from which to explore its tools and technologies. We expect this work to support optimization in future versions, but we are not claiming a measured performance improvement yet. We will share concrete results only when we have them.

Rebuilding The Abyss and opening up new spaces

We are reworking much of The Abyss, the game’s initial area, to improve the experience from the very beginning. Alongside that rebuild, we have been addressing bugs and preparing changes to the map and its levels.

A new map for exploring and trying more gameplay is part of the current 0.0.5.9 roadmap. It is intended to give players with access to the build more room to experiment with the mechanics and offer an early glimpse of the direction we want to take the game’s future open environments. This is still work in progress, not a separate release date or a promise that the finished open map is already here.

What we are preparing for 0.0.5.9

The current roadmap for 0.0.5.9 focuses on improving the overall experience: general bug fixes, work on maps and levels, the new space to explore, updates to the English and Spanish menu, a less overwhelming tutorial, dialogue corrections, and the removal of the opening cinematic.

The exact release date has not been confirmed. We will keep sharing progress as these changes take shape rather than announce a date before it is ready.

Looking further ahead

We have also completed concept art for a major UI refresh. The renewed interface and improvements to combat and animations are currently planned for 0.0.6.0, so they should not be read as features promised for 0.0.5.9.

The procedural dungeon-generation work is also being prepared for Unreal Engine 5.8. Its technical validation and any future integration remain separate work in progress; we are not presenting it as finished or integrated into the current game build.

A foundation, not a finish line

This stretch has been about improving the tools and spaces we build with. We hope to share more soon, and we will keep confirmed changes separate from plans still in development.
